AREA755 1

See in Virtual 3-D

True Performance Meets True Style

Revolutionary new 3D Vision technology shows a virtual 3-D behind-the-aircraft perspective of surrounding terrain derived from GPS and the onboard terrain database — a feature previously only available in our panel-mount avionics. Simply slide your finger across the touchscreen to rotate the view and show land and water features, obstacles, runways and airport signposts in relative proximity to the aircraft.
Using its forward-looking terrain avoidance capability, aera 795 predicts in advance where towers or obstacles may exist and shades the landscape with amber or red overlays to indicate those areas. 3D Vision and other flight data are presented smoothly and continuously thanks to its internal GPS that provides position updates 5 times per second (5 Hz).

AREA755 2AREA755 3
aera 795’s bright 7" diagonal high-definition sunlight-readable display makes this detailed mapping easy to see in any lighting conditions and works in both portrait and landscape mode. The physical design has been optimized to fit on the yoke or for use as a knee-mounted device. There are only 4 touch keys on the bezel for quick navigation to the most frequent used functions. All other functions are quickly accessed through intuitive onscreen icons with labels. This unique touchscreen interface even allows you to quickly pan across the map screen and pinch to zoom.

Enhance Situational Awareness
aera 795’s built-in terrain and U.S. and Canadian obstacles database not only shows contours in 3D Vision mode, but also allows for a top-down view of your entire route. To help you navigate around unfamiliar airports, SafeTaxi® provides detailed taxiway diagrams and position information for many U.S., European or Canadian airports, while a private airport and heliport database greatly expands your emergency “nearest” options. FBO, ground transportation, lodging and other facility information for most U.S. airports are also available through preloaded AOPA Airport Directory Data; international pilots may choose to opt for global AC-U-KWIK airport directory data instead.
Expand Your Portable
With 2 serial ports, aera 795 allows for simultaneous connectivity with other hardware. With an optional GTX 330 Mode S Transponder Interface, you can access Traffic Information Service (TIS) alerts, where available, right on the device while also sending frequencies to a GTR 225 Comm radio or GNC 225 Nav/Comm. It can even relay position reports to other devices.
By adding optional City Navigator maps, both helicopter and fixed-wing pilots add street addresses as waypoints or direct-to destinations. The device includes an SD™ card slot for easy updates and expansions; update, manage and purchase the latest aviation data for your aera through flyGarmin.

AREA 550 / 560

Top of the Line

 AREA550 560 1AREA550 560 2

The 560 is the most feature-rich navigator in the aera lineup. It combines a more advanced list of automotive and piloting capabilities with higher-resolution 9 arc-second terrain/obstacle graphics that yield more than 11 times the onscreen resolution than the standard 30 arc-second versions.
The internal GPS updates at a rate of 5 times per second (5 Hz), which allows your moving map and flight data to display smoothly and continuously. Optional SiriusXM Satellite Weather¹ lets you reference detailed NEXRAD imaging and METARs data, as well as current reports on precipitation, lightning, winds aloft, airport terminal forecasts and more. Weather graphics can be overlaid on the moving-map display. Optional SiriusXM Satellite Radio gives you more than 170 channels of digital audio entertainment (XM subscription required). The GXM 42 smart antenna required for SiriusXM services is provided as an optional accessory. The simplicity of a single integrated cabling solution for power, music and datalink weather antenna options makes for easy, clutter-free aera connectivity in the cockpit.
“Mini-MFD” with Preloaded Mapping
aera 560 comes fully preloaded with detailed flight mapping, terrain/obstacles alerting, U.S., European and Candian SafeTaxi® charts, and AOPA Airport Directory data for a wealth of information resources at your fingertips. A full year of prepaid aviation database updates is included with purchase. The graphical Terrain page offers both overhead and vertical profile views of the topography beneath you. Switch to IFR map mode to display and navigate on high or low enroute airways — while using your touchscreen map cursor to reference MEAs (Minimum Enroute Altitudes) and distances between intersections. Stay aware of special airspace activity with more than 683 parachute drop zone details in the Americas navigation database. Plus, to help with traffic surveillance, an optional power/data cable (sold separately) makes it easy to interface your aera with the GTX 330 Mode S transponder in your aircraft, thus enabling you to access and display TIS traffic alerts in busy terminal airspace. Use the aera to load communication frequencies into your SL 40 Comm or SL 30 Nav/Comm transceiver.
Loaded for the Road
Seamlessly transition to road navigation with its “dual boot” design, supported by preloaded City Navigator® NT street maps. The 560 offers voice-guided turn-by-turn directions with text-to-speech audio technology that speaks street names, much like our popular nüvi® line of touchscreen automotive navigators. Built-in Bluetooth® supports wireless hands-free calling. Other premium features include Lane Assist with junction view, speed limit notification and traffic alerts². Use the SiriusXM satellite capability to watch the weather or listen to SiriusXM Satellite Radio while driving. To quickly transition from aircraft to automotive mode, a unique smart mount for the aera offers instant clip-and-go car navigation.

GPSMAP 695 / 696

GPSMAP 1With features that focus on aviation-only navigation and mapping, GPSMAP 695 is Garmin’s ultimate portable MFD. Similar to the 696, the GPSMAP 695 comes with a large screen and detailed electronic charts — minus XM compatibility — at a price you’ll love.

See the Big Picture
The GPSMAP 695’s bright 7" diagonal high-definition sunlight-readable display makes detailed mapping easy to see day or night — you can even view an entire approach plate on the large-format display. For easy operation, the bezel around the screen includes soft keys and a joystick control. And the internal GPS provides position updates five times per second (5 Hz), allowing the 695 to present flight data smoothly and continuously.
No Chart? No Problem.
With the addition of IFR map mode, Garmin FliteCharts® and ChartView™, the GPSMAP 695 provides key functions of a Class 1/Class 2 electronic flight bag (EFB), reducing the use of paper charts in the cockpit. When in IFR map mode, the 695 can display victor airways, jet routes, minimum enroute altitudes and leg distance, much like what’s found on traditional enroute charts. With geo-referenced FliteCharts, you can quickly find and view all U.S. AeroNav Services, standard terminal arrival routes (STARs), approach charts and airport diagrams. For pilots who prefer Jeppesen charts and diagrams, Garmin also offers ChartView. The ChartView service utilizes Jeppesen’s extensive library to provide global geo-referenced charting capabilities (Chartview activation instructions).
Enhance Situational Awareness
The GPSMAP 695 features a high-resolution terrain page showing hazards relative to your altitude and a vertical profile of terrain along your route of flight. It comes with a built-in Jeppesen database, and an Americas, Atlantic or Pacific terrain database. It also includes an obstacles database for the U.S., Canada or Europe. Using this information, the 695 displays your flight route over contour terrain mapping. With information from the terrain and obstacles databases, the 695 monitors your current position in relation to surrounding terrain to provide alerts. To help keep pilots aware of special airspace activity, over 683 parachute drop zones are detailed in the Americas navigation database. You can even customize your own minimum clearance levels to receive terrain cautions. The 695 also comes with a realistic “view from space” satellite imagery basemap.
Like other portable Garmin devices, the 695 includes the following enhanced aviation databases:
Garmin SafeTaxi®
Provides detailed taxiway diagrams and position information many U.S., European or Canadian airports. Preloaded on the device, this information helps you navigate unfamiliar airports with confidence and shows your aircraft’s exact position on the field.

AOPA Airport Directory
Offers detailed information for more than 5,300 U.S. airports, along with the names and phone numbers of thousands of FBOs. Easily look up taxi services, plan an overnight, and choose fuel stops, plus find ground transportation, lodging, restaurants, local attractions and more.

Private Airports and Heliports
Provides data on private airports and heliports throughout U.S. and Europe, and materially expands your list of navigation and emergency "nearest" options.
Receive Altitude-Sensitive Alerts
When in the air, Garmin’s new Smart Airspace™ feature makes it easier than ever to identify what airspace lies ahead. Smart Airspace automatically highlights airspace close to your current altitude and de-emphasizes airspace away from the current altitude, which gives you increased situational awareness.

Expand Your Portable
The GPSMAP 695 includes an SD™ card slot for extra memory and updates. Keep track of the databases on your GPSMAP 695 through www.fly.garmin.com, our online manager that helps you update, manage and purchase the latest aviation data for your Garmin device, all in one place.
